Woman Testifies About Suspect in Nancy Guthrie Case – He Is Her Son-in-Law

A quiet neighborhood in Rio Rico, Arizona, drew national attention this week after law enforcement searched a home in connection with the disappearance of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, the mother of Today co-host Savannah Guthrie.

Authorities acted on a tip suggesting Nancy might be inside the residence. The homeowner, identified as Josefina, said she fully cooperated with investigators and denied any connection to the case.

“They told me they had a tip that the lady was in my house,” Josefina said, adding that officers searched the property and showed her surveillance images recovered from Nancy’s home. She said the person in the footage did not resemble her son-in-law, Carlos, who was briefly detained during the investigation and later released.

Josefina said officers broke down her door while she was away and seized electronic devices as part of the search. A reporter later confirmed law enforcement had an active search warrant, indicating investigators may be examining digital evidence.

Despite the police activity, Josefina expressed sympathy for the Guthrie family and said she hopes Nancy is found safe.

Authorities have not announced any charges, and the investigation remains ongoing as law enforcement continues reviewing evidence and following leads.
