Update about Turning Point USA’s halftime show

For Super Bowl LX, Turning Point USA moved ahead with plans to host a rival halftime event, billed as an alternative to the NFL’s official show headlined by Bad Bunny. Just days before kickoff, however, the organization announced a last-minute change affecting how viewers could watch.

TPUSA framed “The All-American Halftime Show” as cultural counterprogramming centered on “faith, family, and freedom.” Supporters viewed it as a values-driven alternative, while critics saw it as a political response to the NFL’s performer choice. The lineup included Kid Rock, Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice, and Gabby Barrett, with the livestream scheduled to run during the official halftime.

Founded in 2012 by Charlie Kirk, TPUSA has continued high-profile cultural engagement following his death in September 2025, under new leadership from CEO and chair Erika Kirk.

Shortly before the game, TPUSA announced on X that licensing restrictions prevented streaming the show on the platform and directed viewers to YouTube instead, where the full performance would be available around 8 p.m. ET. The late switch frustrated some supporters, who criticized the logistics and lack of a direct link, while others said they would tune in regardless.

The competing halftime events underscored how major entertainment moments increasingly overlap with politics and cultural identity. While the platform change complicated rollout, it did little to quiet the broader debate around alternative programming and polarization in pop culture.
