Keratosis Pilaris (KP) causes tiny, rough bumps on the arms, thighs, or cheeks that look like goosebumps. Often called “chicken skin,” it’s harmless and very common.
KP happens when keratin builds up and blocks hair follicles. It’s not an infection or allergy.
Common causes include dry skin, genetics, eczema, and cold weather.
How to manage it:
-
Gently exfoliate 2–3 times a week
-
Moisturize daily
-
Use warm (not hot) showers
-
Be consistent—results take time
See a dermatologist if bumps become itchy or inflamed.
Bottom line: KP is harmless and manageable with simple, regular skin care.
