Spencer Pratt Files Election Complaint Against Karen Bass

Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt has filed a formal election complaint against Mayor Karen Bass, accusing her campaign of violating California election laws by filming campaign content too close to a ballot drop box.

Pratt, the reality TV personality running as an Independent, announced the complaint on X, claiming Bass illegally encouraged voting within 100 feet of a ballot box — an act prohibited under California law.

“Karen Bass just violated election law here,” Pratt wrote, accusing the mayor of ignoring accountability and election rules.

Bass’s campaign strongly denied the allegations. Spokesperson Alex Stack said the complaint was “blatantly false” and explained that the video was filmed in multiple locations, including one more than 200 feet away from the ballot box.

Pratt’s attorney, Peter McNulty, requested an official investigation, arguing that campaigning too close to voters could improperly influence elections.

So far, city and state officials have not announced whether a formal investigation will take place.

The dispute adds new tension to an already heated Los Angeles mayoral race ahead of Election Day.
