Delivery Driver in Custody Over Nancy Guthrie Case Speaks Out, Addresses Speculation

The investigation into the disappearance of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie intensified this week after a local delivery driver was briefly detained in southern Arizona.

On February 10, officers stopped and questioned Carlos Palazuelos near Rio Rico. He was held for several hours and later released without charges. The Federal Bureau of Investigation and Pima County Sheriff’s Department said he has not been named a suspect and described the detention as routine investigative procedure.

Authorities also executed a court-authorized search warrant at a Rio Rico residence connected to Palazuelos, with the FBI’s Evidence Response Team assisting. Officials have not disclosed what, if anything, was seized and emphasized the search does not imply guilt.

Nancy Guthrie was last seen January 31, 2026, at her home near Tucson. Investigators believe she may have been taken against her will early February 1. Evidence cited includes security footage of a masked person outside her home, disruption of her medical monitoring app, and blood matching her DNA on the porch. A $50,000 reward has been offered for credible information.

The FBI has released enhanced surveillance images of a masked individual seen near the home before the disappearance. Ransom messages demanding Bitcoin have also been sent to media outlets, though authorities have not confirmed their authenticity.

Officials say the investigation remains active, with no arrests and no suspects formally identified.
